Earth Moving

Earth moving operations, as specified in the surface mining project, mainly consist of loosening, excavating, loading, transportation, disposal to an appointed dumping area and laying operations for overburden material over the ore zone and keeping dump area operational and safe, constructing suitable benches, roads and water drainage channels on the dump site and keeping the dump site compatible to the natural environment.

Although the earth moving operation seems relatively easy compared to general mining practices, that requires in fact an exhaustive study, preparation and reasoning. Prior to any application on site, large scaled production maps should be designed in accordance with the regulations. Then the               cross-sections of ore and waste to be removed should be drawn and the volume of the topsoil should be accurately determined. In the light of this information, a safe, appropriate and fast method of application should be selected.  Prior to any operation, the topsoil of the area should be removed and properly conserved in a separate stock area for further rehabilitation works.
